Niigata University's "Sado Kinzan zue or The Scene of Sado Gold and Silver Mine" is a sort of scroll painting to show workers and scenes from mines-searching, gold-smelting or other processes at Sado in the mid-Edo Period. It should be so valuable piece of material for us to perceive a detailed goldmine description of the time.
From middle to late Edo Period, this type of scroll paintings featuring Sado gold and silver mine was many drawn and went overseas as well. Our edition is estimated to be made ca. 1750.
