Library Guide

Circulation

  • All books, materials and journals --- except reference books, rare books, manuscripts, newspapers and latest journals --- are to be taken to the Circulation Desk with your Library Card.
  • Please return the materials to the Circulation Desk. When the library is closed, please use the book drops.
  • If you fail to return books by the due date, your borrowing privileges will be suspended as many days as the book is overdue.
  • Books checked out can be renewed for another week if they have not been requested by other borrowers. Renewing, however, is allowed only once. This dose not apply to periodicals.
  • Users can apply for reservation. Requests for books which are checked out can be placed in person at the circulation counter.

Locating Materials

All stacks are open for browsing except for rare books and theses.

Books

Central Lib

The Books are classified by NDC (Nippon Decimal Classification).

M&D Lib

There are two call number systems used in the Library:

NLMC (National Library of Medicine Classification)•for medical books, and NDC (Nippon Decimal Classification)•for non-medical books.

Periodicals

Journals are shelved in alphabetical order.

Please access from OPAC or our Home Page.

Using this portal site, you can use Library Web Service by yourself as follows;

• Checking your status (Borrowed and reserved materials)

• Reservation for books on loan (From the OPAC search results)

• Requesting a loan renewal

• Interlibrary Loan

When you use "My Library", you need your Library Card Number (ID) and the password.

Reference Service

Please ask our staff, if you need any help with locating the materials, serching the OPAC and the database, finding information on a topic,etc.

Photocopy Service

Photocopying materials is possible but limited by the copyright law.

Central Lib

Copy machines are available on 2nd and 3rd floor.

M&D Lib

Copy machines are available on 1nd and 3rd floor.

Interlibrary Loan [Details]

You may ask for the photocopies of the materials or loan books from other libraries at your expense.

Using the library of another university

If you are going to visit the library of another university, you may ask the staff to write a recommendation letter.
