【Ended】Sado Island Gold Mines and Niigata University

In July 2024, the “Sado Island Gold Mines” were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Niigata University and Sado Island have maintained a long-standing relationship through cooperation and collaboration, including the establishment of related facilities and the signing of agreements. Niigata University Asahimachi Museum has also supported efforts to register the Sado Gold Mines as a World Heritage Site by holding events, conducting research, and collecting related materials.
To celebrate this achievement, the museum will hold an exhibition featuring materials related to the Sado Gold Mines and Sado Island, while also highlighting Niigata University’s connection with Sado Island and the museum’s activities.
